ESL and IEM will host the event in October with a $250,000 prize pool and 32 teams from three regions. IEM New York is the last tournament where professional NA and CIS CS:GO teams can earn ESL Pro Tour points and RMR slots to qualify for the ESL One Rio 2020 Major, which is scheduled from November 19 to 22. The winner of the tournament wins the title, as well as the lion share of the prize pool and points. Moreover, the dominating participants’ standings will affect CS:GO’s Regional Major Rankings.

North America has 12 slots available for the event, while the CIS and European divisions have 12 and eight, respectively. NA team Evil Geniuses, the champion of ESL One New York 2020, and runner-up Astralis will be making an appearance this year together with other powerhouse teams from last year’s semifinals. At press time, Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses, Gen.G Esports, Cloud 9, Furia, 100 Thieves, Triumph, and MIBR headline the NA lineup of confirmed participants. CIS already invited Team Spirit, Natus Vincere, Virtus.pro, Neminga, Hard Legion, Winstrike, Gambit Youngsters, and Espada.
